สำหรับ stainless steel sheet, plate หรือ coil คำว่า surface finish ไม่ใช่รายละเอียดเล็ก ๆ ถ้า grade ผิด ปัญหาอาจแสดงตอนใช้งานจริง แต่ถ้า surface finish ผิด ผู้ซื้อเห็นทันทีตอนเปิดตู้หรือรับของที่ warehouse.

ถ้าเป็นงาน industrial ที่ไม่เห็นผิว 2B หรือ No.1 อาจเพียงพอ แต่ถ้าเป็น visible panel, kitchen equipment, elevator หรือ decorative sheet ต้องระบุ grain direction, protective film และ inspection expectation ให้ชัด.
ทำไม surface finish ผิดแล้วโดน reject เร็ว
Surface finish เป็นสิ่งที่ buyer และ end user ตรวจได้ด้วยตา ไม่ต้องใช้ lab test.
Commercial kitchen fabricator อาจยอมรับ 304 chemistry และ MTC ที่ถูกต้อง แต่ยัง reject ได้ถ้า No.4 brushing ไม่สม่ำเสมอ. Elevator panel ที่ grain direction ไม่ตรงกันจะเห็นชัดหลังติดตั้ง. Mirror panel ที่มี scratch หรือ adhesive shadow อาจกลายเป็นสินค้าใช้ไม่ได้ในเชิงพาณิชย์ แม้ grade จะถูกต้อง.
ดังนั้น surface finish เป็นทั้ง technical requirement และ visual requirement. ไม่ควรปล่อยไว้เป็นข้อความสั้น ๆ ในแชท แต่ควรอยู่ใน RFQ, PO และ pre-shipment inspection note.
2B vs BA: จุดที่ผู้ซื้อสับสนบ่อย
2B finish stainless steel เป็นผิวพื้นฐานของ cold rolled sheet และ coil. ผิวเรียบ สีเทาแมตต์ ไม่เงามาก เหมาะกับ equipment panel, enclosure, tank, hidden part หรือชิ้นงานที่จะนำไป process ต่อ.
BA finish stainless steel คือ bright annealed surface. ผิวจะเงาและสะท้อนแสงมากกว่า 2B ใช้ใน kitchenware, appliance panel, decorative trim หรือ part ที่ต้องการผิวสว่างก่อน polishing ต่อ.
จุดเสี่ยงคือการ substitute. ถ้า drawing หรือ sample ต้องการ BA แต่ supplier ส่ง 2B มา ผิวจะดูมืดกว่าอย่างชัดเจน. ถ้า part อยู่ในเครื่องและไม่เห็นผิว การจ่ายเพิ่มเพื่อ BA อาจไม่จำเป็น.
สำหรับ flat product สามารถดูสินค้า 304 Stainless Steel Plate ภาษาไทย หรือถ้าต้องใช้ coil route สำหรับ slitting / cut-to-length สามารถดู 304 Stainless Steel Coil.
No.4 vs HL: ทั้งคู่เป็นเส้น แต่ภาพรวมต่างกัน
No.4 และ HL เป็น directional finish เหมือนกัน แต่ visual result ไม่เหมือนกัน.
No.4 finish stainless steel มีเส้นสั้นและสม่ำเสมอ นิยมใน commercial kitchen, food equipment, elevator interior และ equipment cover. ผิวนี้ช่วยซ่อนรอยใช้งานเล็ก ๆ ได้ดีกว่า mirror finish.
HL finish stainless steel หรือ hairline finish มีเส้นยาวต่อเนื่องกว่า ให้ภาพลักษณ์ architectural และ premium มากกว่า มักใช้กับ door frame, wall panel, retail interior และ decorative trim.
สำหรับทั้งสองแบบ ต้องยืนยัน grain direction. ถ้าแผ่นหนึ่ง grain along length แต่อีกแผ่น grain across width เมื่อติดตั้งติดกันจะเห็นทันที. ใน RFQ ควรระบุ No.4 หรือ HL, grain direction, protective film และ inspection requirement.
No.8 Mirror และ Patterned Finish ต้องระวัง packing
No.8 mirror finish stainless steel ไม่ใช่แค่ BA ที่เงากว่า แต่เป็น mechanically polished surface ที่ต้องการ reflection ลึกและไม่มีเส้นขัดชัดเจน. ผิวแบบนี้เห็น defect ง่ายมาก.
ถ้าซื้อ mirror finish ต้องยืนยัน base grade, thickness, polishing side, protective film, sheet separation, wooden case และ moisture control. สำหรับการส่งไป Thailand ผ่าน Laem Chabang หรือ Bangkok ในสภาพอากาศชื้น protective film และ packing สำคัญมาก.
ส่วน embossed หรือ patterned finish ใช้คนละวัตถุประสงค์ เช่น anti-slip flooring, decorative wall panel หรือ elevator panel. ต้องยืนยัน pattern type, direction, base thickness และผลต่อ forming หรือ bending.
วิธีเขียน surface finish ใน RFQ / PO
RFQ ที่อ่อนเกินไป:
> 304 stainless steel sheet, 1.5 mm, brushed surface, quote best price.
RFQ ที่ดีกว่า:
> ASTM A240 304 stainless steel sheet, 1.5 mm x 1219 mm x 2438 mm, No.4 finish, grain along length, PVC or laser protective film required, 5 tons, destination Thailand. Please confirm MTC, packing method and pre-shipment surface inspection.
ถ้าเป็น mirror sheet:
> SUS304 stainless steel sheet, 0.8 mm x 1219 mm x 2438 mm, No.8 mirror finish, one side mirror with protective film, wooden case packing, no visible scratch or adhesive mark before shipment, destination Laem Chabang.
ถ้าเป็น HL finish:
> 316L stainless steel sheet, 1.2 mm x 1219 mm x 2438 mm, HL finish, grain direction along 2438 mm length, film required, panels for interior decoration.
รายละเอียดแบบนี้ช่วยให้ quote, production และ inspection ใช้เกณฑ์เดียวกัน.
MTC ไม่ใช่ final surface inspection report
MTC สำคัญ แต่ไม่ควรถูกใช้แทน surface inspection.
MTC ปกติยืนยัน grade, chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat number, product form และ standard wording. แต่ถ้า No.4, HL หรือ No.8 mirror ถูกทำหลังจากนั้นที่ processing center ตัว MTC อาจไม่ได้ยืนยัน final surface quality.
ถ้า finish สำคัญ ต้องควบคุมด้วย PO wording, supplier confirmation, photo / video เมื่อจำเป็น และ pre-shipment inspection. ควรถาม supplier ว่า finish ทำที่ไหน ใช้ protective film แบบใด และ packing จะป้องกันผิวอย่างไร.

สำหรับ visible stainless steel surface ควรตรวจมากกว่า label และ packing list.

Packing และ Sea Freight Risk
Surface finish อาจเสียหายหลังผลิตเสร็จถ้า packing ไม่ดี โดยเฉพาะ polished sheet, mirror sheet และ decorative sheet.
Moisture, salt air, temperature change และ long transit time อาจทำให้ protective film มีปัญหา. Film คุณภาพต่ำอาจทิ้งคราบกาว. Wooden packing ที่ไม่แข็งแรงอาจทำให้แผ่นเสียดสีกัน. Handling ที่ไม่สะอาดอาจทำให้เกิด scratch ก่อนถึง buyer.
สำหรับ visible surface ควรเขียน packing requirement เช่น:

- paper or plastic separation when required
- export wooden case or pallet
- edge protection for cut sheet
- moisture control for long sea route when practical
- photos before and after packing for critical surface orders
Packing ที่ดีไม่สามารถทำให้ผิวแย่กลายเป็นดีได้ แต่ packing ที่แย่สามารถทำให้ผิวดีเสียหายได้.
